This project is the second in a series of projects designed to combine the removal of macro-pollutants from the shoreline with effective data collection methods. Montreux Clean Beach Project II (MCBPII) improves on the first project and provides an efficient low cost process for data collection and trash removal based on existing technologies and proven methods.

Based on the lessons learned from the first project we have made quite a few changes:
- Complete inventories at each operation (elimination of volume/mass and frequency surveys)
- 6 sites (rive gauche and rive droite)
- Minimum 40 samples per site
- Maximum of 1 week between samples
- Over 100 categories per sample
- Adoption of the Marine Litter Watch category list for beach liter surveys
- We use their codes and categories
- We use Kobo for our data storage and forms
- Interested parties can get online access to data (CSV or XLS)
- Adoption of R for local data storage and analysis
- Surface area measurements at each operation (looking at density)
- Inclusion of GPS data
- Coordinated communication strategy
- Standardized blog posts and daily reporting
- Standardized monthly aggregate reports
- Monthly article on relevant topics (hydrology, statistics, environmental economics, surfing etc…)
- Focus on river mouths and locations not covered by CIPEL
